As of Monday, June 8 the library is open for Express Service. It goes against our very nature to ask you to limit your time in our stacks, but we believe that the safety of our patrons and staff is paramount. So we ask that you treat your library visit as you would a trip to the grocery store and limit your time in the library to the time necessary to conduct the business you are there for. We ask that you do not congregate or participate in conversations not related to your transaction and maintain 6 feet of social distancing at all times. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Wearing a mask and practicing good hygiene is strongly recommended. Staff are wearing masks and practicing frequent hand washing to keep our patrons safe. Please return the favor!
The following areas of the building will remain closed at this time: bathrooms, community room, study rooms, and reading room.
Hours of Operation
Returning Library Materials
To ensure everyone's safety, no indoor returns will be accepted. However, you may return any and all items in our outside book drop located on the side of the building. Returns will be quarantined and will not be checked in for 7 days.
In this new phase, it is no longer necessary to have an appointment to pick up holds. However, we understand that not everyone is ready to come back into the library yet so we will continue to provide Curbside Service. Requests may be made by calling the library at 608-643-8318 or by placing holds as usual using the LINKcat catalog or mobile app. (Although the catalog contains materials from all libraries in the South Central system, we currently have reduced delivery and will only be able to promptly fill requests for items currently on our shelves.)
The number of available computers will be greatly reduced at this time to allow for social distancing and sanitation between uses. Computer use will be available by reservation only for up to 60 minutes. Please contact the staff at 608-643-8318 to make a reservation. Due to staffing limitations, we will only be able to provide brief basic help on the computers. LINKcat stations will not be available. WiFi continues to be available to you outside the building. Feel free to park along Water Street and surf the web!
