Summer Reading Program 2009

 

~ Thursday, June 11 - Registration begins in the library or online

(continues throughout programs)

~ Friday, August 28 - Last day to turn in reading minutes

~ Monday, August 31 - Prize drawing!

 

iMaginative Mondays

All programs are free and no registration is required to attend.

All ages are welcome unless specified.

Programs will be held at Marion Park on the corner of First and Grand Ave.

June 15, 1:00 p.m.	Pop! A Comedy Noise Explosion Welcome back The Noise Guy (Charlie Williams), all the way from Washington State!
June 22, 1:00 p.m.	Drumming We'll do lots of drumming and create a drum to take home. Local teacher Jenna McCann will be our guest.
June 29, 1:00 p.m.	Earth, Music...Magic! Bill Kehl will share his instruments from around the world, and kids can try them!
July 6, 1:00 p.m.	NO PROGRAM
July 13, 1:00 p.m.	Create a Play! The Atwood Players will present an improv play in which the performers act out the scenes from children's stories based on audience input.
July 20, 1:00 p.m.	International Folkdance Mark Helpsmeet will show and teach dances from around the world.
July 27, 1:00 p.m.	Creative Science and Art! Be creative with paper, goop, and lots of hands-on materials! Completed K-5th grade welcome

August 7, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.	National Treasure Hunt Join us for a scavenger hunt inspired by the movie National Treasure.
August 14, 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.	Make a Movie in an Hour! We'll write, direct, and act in our very own movie then watch it on the big screen! We'll make the movie from 1-2 and screen it from 2-2:30.
August 21, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.	Totally Amazing Tie Dye Bring your socks, shirts, or pillowcases and turn them into colorful masterpieces!
August 28, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m	Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers Party Come celebrate the end of summer with music, dancing, and games!

 

Children's Reading Program!

READ...Art, science, comics, fiction, fairies, sports, pirates...summer is the perfect time to get creative in your reading! Sign-up begins the day after school is out. The reading program continues through August 28. Prizes will be handed out as you complete each week's reading requirement of just 20 minutes per day! This program is open to rre-readers through 5th graders! We will also be doing random prize drawings for those who read extra! Stop in for your reading sheets and information or sign-up online!

Artist of the Week

Would you like to have your personal art creation displayed at the Library this summer? Stop in for a blank sheet of paper that you can create your work of art on! We'll hang it in a very special place and reward very special YOU for your artistic talents!

 

Family Fun Nights

All programs are free and fun for all ages!

Programs will be held at the Prairie du Sac Library

Thursday, June 25, 6:30 p.m.	Whose Line is it Anyway? Improv games and fun for all
Thursday, July 30, 6:30 p.m.	Puppet Extravaganza! We'll play with the library puppets, puppet theatre, and make puppets to take home.
Thursday, August 27, 6:30 p.m.	Creative Olympics! We'll compete with silly and fun games, songs, and activities. Of course, there will be prizes and snacks!
