About Prairie du Sac
The Village of Prairie du Sac and its sister village, Sauk City, are located on the Wisconsin River in Sauk County, Wisconsin. The villages are located on U.S. Highway 12 and State Highways 60 and 78 about 20 miles north of Madison, Wisconsin. The population of Prairie du Sac is nearing 3,100 and the Village of Sauk City has just over 3,000 people for a combined population base of over 6,000 residents.
The Wollersheim Winery overlooks the Wisconsin River. Other area attractions include Bald Eagle Watching Days in January, Fire on the River and the Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw. Also, located nearby are Devil's Lake State Park, the Merrimac Ferry, and Circus World Museum with the Wisconsin Dells about 40 minutes away.
