Joint Library
Sauk City is committed to maintaining their library at their current downtown location. Sauk City has recently decided that they are not interested in participating in the land donation offer made by Mrs. Ethel Dahir.
The land donation offer made by Mrs. Ethel Dahir was presented to both Prairie du Sac and Sauk City. Her original offer was intended to be a catalyst for cooperation between the two Villages; she hoped that her generous offer to donate land would result in the creation of a new joint community library. While this offer was intended to facilitate a joint library, it did not require that either or both Villages abandon their current locations.
Following her offer, the Prairie du Sac and Sauk City Library Boards met together on numerous occasions to discuss the possibilities of a joint library at that location. Joint meetings were held on the following dates:
- March 12, 2007 (SKC)
- November 21, 2006 (PDS)
- September 27, 2006 (PDS)
- January 9, 2006 (SKC)
- January 10, 2005 (SKC)
- July 21, 2005 (PDS)
- October 19, 2004 (PDS)
Mrs. Dahir has agreed to honor the offer to donate the land to Prairie du Sac even though Sauk City is not interested.
